The KR 87 will drive the KI 229 Radio Magnetic Indicator (RMI) or KNI 582 RMI to provide magnetic bearings to VOR and ADF. KI 229 RMI displays the magnetic heading of your aircraft (Provided by the KCS 55A Compass System) and magnetic bearings for both VOR and ADF. KNI 582 RMI displays the magnetic heading of your aircraft (Provided by the KCS 55A Compass System). Either needle can be switched to display NAV or ADF data. |

** Fully functional ADF2 and dual mode needles for selecting ADF/NAV source on either needle **
To indicate which navigation source the needle is using, there is a small green indicator either above or below the white push button.
The KNI 582 needles are defined as follows:
Green needle shows either ADF 1 or Nav 2 source
Yellow needle shows either ADF 2 or Nav 2 source
In the picture of the KNI 582 above, the left white push button has a green indicator at the top below the word ADF. The green needle is using the ADF source 1 and magnetic heading is 270° to the station. The right white push button has a green indicator at the bottom where the word VOR is located. The yellow needle is using the Nav 2 source and the heading is 11° to the station. The left ADF setting for the Green needle is ADF 1 source and the right ADF setting for the yellow needle is ADF 2 source. The bottom VOR setting for both needles uses the Nav 2 source. Both ADF 1 & 2 selectors are located on the KR 87 ADF radio receiver located in the radio stack to the right of the DU.
